Driftwood Quintet returns to Glendale's Centerline District to host three chamber music performances in collaboration with local businesses that hold large value to their community. Orchestral Masterworks IV is the final residency performance. All performances in the residency are free and open to the public.
The Orchestral Masterworks Series seeks to bring the awe and wonder of orchestral music into the more intimate chamber concert setting. This series not only allows audience members who would not otherwise go to a symphony hall concert to be exposed to orchestral music, but also allows those familiar with orchestral music to experience it in a different way. This fourth annual installment will showcase Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, works by minority composers such as African American composers Scott Joplin and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, and a special performance of William Grant Still’s Mother and Child featuring violin soloist Patricia Cole.
Funding for this project is provided by the City of Glendale's Centerline District Arts & Cultural Initiative.
